An incomplete copper-alloy T-shaped brooch of Roman date, c.AD 50 - 150. The head of the brooch comprises rectangular tubular wings, from which projects an attachment for a now missing headloop. The reverse of the wings form an integral double lung hinge mechanism. The enclosed axis bar and pin no longer survive.

A D-sectioned bow attaches centrally to the wings and tapers to a worn break. The bow arches steeply forming a C-shaped profile. The underside of the bow has a deep triangular recess beginning where the bow joins the head and narrowing to a point approximately halfway along the length of the bow. No trace of a catchplate remains.

Traces of niello decoration remain on the upper side of the head and bow of the broch.

The metal has a mid-green patina and is worn. The brooch is 28.4mm long, 16.1mm wide at the head, 6.4mm wide at the bow, 7.6mm thick and weighs 4.4g.
