A cast copper alloy medieval harness pendant. The pendant is shield shaped with a central suspension loop at the top. One side of the shield is decorated with a heraldic style design using a coloured enamel field with raised devices. The enamel appears to have been blue, the raised design a bend cotised with 3 lions rampant on either side of the bend. It is probable that the design derives from the arms of the de Bohun family. The Bohuns were Earls of Hereford and major political figures and landowners in the 13th and 14th centuries. It is not necessarily the case that the pendant belonged to one of them personally, it probably showed ownership or allegiance.
