Roman copper alloy Colchester derivative, double pierced lug, Harlow type brooch. he bow has a prominent dorsal ridge which protrudes as a loop for the pin. This loop is connected to another under the arms where the spring was mounted. It is 30.2mm long and 23.7mm wide. Missing pin, spring and catchplate. 1st century AD.
Compares favourably to Hattatt (2000) p298, number 888.
