A cast copper alloy double-loop buckle with trapezoidal frame. The buckle is 35 mm long and 22 mm wide and 2.6 mm thick. The frame has trefoil outer edges and small worn knops at each end of the strap bar which is bevelled and 2.7 mm wide but flush with the frame. The inner edges of both ends of the frame are vertical and the faces are decorated with an incised transverse line. The outer edges of the frame have central pointed knops with transverse grooves as pin rests and ovoid knops at the corners. The pin is wrapped around the pin bar but missing sections of its outer layer and is 17 mm long and 3 mm wide and 2 mm thick. The upper face and back of the frame retain some patches of tinning.

Whitehead (1996) illustrates a similar trapezoidal buckle with grooves on p.84, no.524 which is dated from c.1620-1680.

Flynn and Geake (2018) in the new Finds Recording Guide for Buckles illustrate an almost identical buckle on page 48, second row, centre, dating from the 17th century.
