A complete lead token dating to the Post Medieval period (c. AD 1500-1800). The token has 'IB' inscribed on one face, though this would be read as 'JB' at the time. On the opposing face is a very worn motif, which may represent a bust or could be a bleeding heart (see Bailey 1992: 57, no. 12). The object has a light grey patina.
Lead tokens had a wide variety of potential uses including use as tallies, gaming pieces, tickets and weights. They are difficult to date precisely, though the majority date to the 17th and 18th centuries.
The overall dimensions are as follows: 21.18mm in diameter, 3.36mm in thickness and 13.81g in weight.
