A copper-alloy coin weight dating to the Post-Medieval period, c.AD 1604 - 1619. The weight is circular and bi-faced. The obverse is depicts a crowned .XI. with smaller letter s below (indicating shillings). The reverse depicts St Michael spearing a dragon with the legend MAG BRIT to one side. The weight was used for the angel of James I, second coinage.
The metal has a dark red/brown patina and is worn. The coin weight is 17mm in diameter. 2.4mm thick and weighs 3.9g.
The coin weight is slightly light compared to its official weight of 71 grains/4.1g (Withers and Withers 1995: 13).
