A complete copper-alloy trade weight of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1714 - 1826. The weight is circular in plan with a raised rim. The rim has an off-centre groove along the flat upper surface. A small circular depression is present at the centre of the weight and is enclosed by an incised ring. Two parallel rings are also present midway between the centre and rim. A stamped crowned GR devise is present between the inner and outer rings.
The metal has a mid-green patina and is worn. The weight is 48.2mm in diameter, 9.8mm thick and weighs 107g.
Bronze provincial trade weights of this type are discussed in Biggs (1993), p.54 who states that the markings refer to the place of issue. The crowned GR mark is described as being used widely outside major centres in the 18th - 19th centuries.
