A complete copper-alloy buckle of Post-Medieval date, c. AD 1720 - 1790. The buckle is a sub-rectangular knee buckle with a drilled frame to house a separate spindle. The spindle has two spiked projecting tongues extending to the outer frame.
The metal has a dark brown patina and is worn. The buckle is 18.8mm long, 16.5mm wide, 3.7mm thick and weighs 2.3g.
A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead p.111, no.712 and is dated to circa AD 1720 - 1790.
