Copper alloy Post Medieval two piece buckle with missing pin, chape and central iron spindle bar. The inner part of each loop is kidney-shaped with a series of moulded grooves on the outer edge of each loop and several more on both sides of the frame flanking the junction of the spindle bar. Two piece buckles became popular from the latter part of the 17th century. A similar example is shown in Whitehead, R. Buckles 1250-1800 (2003) p99. No. 626. Circa AD1660-1720.
