Medieval purse bar; the purse bar has a central sub rectangular boss, protruding from either side of the boss is an integral, circular sectioned arm which terminates with a bulbous knop. One of these is broken off. Directly above the boss is the base of the suspension loop. The arm terminates with a bulbous knop which protrudes at the base of the boss. The knops are undecorated. [Please note the photo is upside down!]
Other similar examples are illustrated in the London Museum Catalogue (Ward-Perkins,1940), Figure 52 and type B6 is particularly similar to the recorded example, dating to the late 15th to early 16th centuries.
