An incomplete cast copper-alloy composite harness pendant dating to the Medieval period, c. 1200-1400. The pendant consists two elements-an outer frame or 'swinger' and an inner pendant, the latter connected by means of a circular axis bar. The frame demonstrates a transverse suspension loop at its apex, directly below which is a transverse perforation where the axis bar passes through-serving as the hinge point for the pendant. It is quatrefoil-shaped in plan, with projecting lenticular cusps between each rounded lobe. Half of this outer frame is missing in an old break. The internal pendant (also demonstrating a transverse suspension loop at its apex) is cruciform in plan, each arm with a waisted midsection and prominently knopped terminal. Preserved in fair condition with a rather coarse brownish patina, it measures 34.35mm in length, survives to a maximum width of 20.15mm, and is 3.38mm thick at the centre of the pendant. It weighs 6.61g.
