A complete copper alloy medieval to post medieval thimble, of closed type, dating from c. 1400-1550. The thimble is circular in shape, and has a flat top. Around the base of the thimble is an incised line running around the circumference. Above this are rows of circular indentations that continue up the body of the thimble, and across the flat top, ending with a raised pellet in the centre. The inside of the thimble is undecorated. The thimble has a light green patina, with patches of orange brown corrosion. It measures 17.6mm height, 19.5mm in diameter, and weighs 6.04g.
A similar thimble can be seen in Holmes 1988, page 1, figure 2.
