An incomplete copper alloy Post Medieval Plaque , inscribed with the name and address of the owner. The plaque is rectangular with bevelled edges and shaped with its corners removed. On its reverse, some of the retaining spikes (integral rivets) which held it to the leather are missing.

The name and address on the plaque are as follows:- Ant. Crofts. at Saxham, Near St Edmonds Bury, Suffolk.

There is much information about Anthony Crofts of that address, available on the Internet.

Anthony Cross AD 1593 - 1657, was the 2nd son of Sir John Crofts.

He attended Emmanuel College Cambridge in 1611, and later became MP for Bury in AD1624.
