Five heavily abraded body sherds Roman Black Burnished Ware vessels (BB1, from Wareham/Poole Harbour, Dorset) dating c. AD 75-410. All are too fragmentary to establish the form although the range of thicknesses and firing suggests more than one vessel is represented.
All have are a hard fired, dark grey fabric with occasional brown areas on some sherds and one unusually a mid gray on the inner (abraded) face. The fabric contains abundant sub-rounded translucent quartz, <1.5mm, rare sub-angular orange/brown iron stone, <1.5mm, occasional sub-angular white inclusions, <1.5mm, possibly flint, rare grey/white angular inclusions <4mm, possibly limestone.
