Unique ID: NLM-1B7C6B

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

Grey flint with cortex scraper. A large oval flake with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side by multangular hard hammer strike. The ventral surface is smooth and slightly concave. Short abrupt retouch executed from the dorsal aspect follows a part of the curved edge, opposite either a striking platform or a flat butt. Misty patina has developed over all struck surfaces, suggesting the object has endured a period of exposure to a calcareous environment after its deposition. Where this is interrupted, it is by slight adventitious impacts. Suggested date: Early Bronze Age, 2350-1600 BC.

Length: 42.1mm, Width: 40mm, Thickness: 12mm, Weight: 25.19gms
