An incomplete cast copper alloy disc shaped mount or applique of Roman date. The outer edge of the mount has a raised edge which is noticably worn on one side. Within the mount are two further raised concentric ribs of reserve metal creating three unequally sized ring-shaped cells. No trace of internal decoration, such as enamel, is visible. There is a sub-rectangular hole in a section of the outer cell, apparently worn through. There may have been a rivet hole through this section which has then broken, as there are no other fittings or attachement points on the mount. There is an area of concretion in part of the outer cell, but it does not appear to have been part of something functional. The reverse of the mount has recesses correlating to the raised ribs on the other side. This object probably dates to the second or third century AD, although its use is uncertain.
