A complete Swedish copper alloy coin of the Post Medieval period from the reign of Queen Christina (AD1632-1654).

Obverse description: Crowned Vasa shield, date above. Shield divides denomination, 1/4 OR, ball under 1/4 and OR.

Reverse description: Three crowns of Sweden,C R S, (Christiana Regina Sve); three rosettes below.

The coin is in a fair condition with some corrosion. It has been struck slightly off-centre on the obverse, leaving a little extra metal on the left side.

The coin is from Christina's reign when the currency changed slightly. One difference that is noticable is the date being above the crown on the obverse; this changed in 1634 until 1653 making it easier to date the coin. However, due to a little corrosion, it is not possible to give an exact year; the first half of the date,16, can be seen but the year cannot.

The House of Vasa ruled Sweden from 1523 until 1654 on Christina's death. They also ruled other countries in North West Europe. The Shield Of Vasa is centred by a 'garb of wheat'.
