A copper-alloy Late Iron Age unit of the Kent Region / Cantiaci, struck in the name of Eppillus, dating to the period AD 1-15, 'Eppillus Chariot' type. Obverse: Bearded head left with legend EPPI.C(F) in front. Reverse: Chariot right, with charioteer holding a torc and EP C.F below. As ABC, p. 43, no. 417; VA 453

Eppillus of the Atrebates and Regni held territory in North Kent at this period as well as North Hampshire minting different coins in each County. Alternately, he could have moved into Canterbury after his brother Tincomarus had pushed him out of Silchester. Either way it is feasible that Tasciouvanos-King of the Catuvellauni (North Thames) may have helped Eppillus to take his own family to claim territory south of the Thames. The coin is 17.47mm long, 16.25mm wide, 2.59mm thick, diameter 17.47 and weighs 2.7g.
