Silver gilt dress hook. Cast in the form of a rosette with trapezoidal loop and re-curving hook soldered to the reverse of the centre of the rosette. There are traces of gilding on the obverse of the rosette, and the obverse and possibly the reverse of the loop. Length 22.46mm, width 10.12mm, thickness 4.64mm, weight 2.71g.
British Museum Curator's Report: Date: 16th Century Description: Silver-gilt dress hook cast on one plane with a Tudor rose supporting a trapezoidal fastening bar. A recurving hook of circular section soldered to the reverse. Gilding worn, the hook bent. Length: 22.46 mm Width: 10.12 mm The precious metal content of the dress hook fulfils the requirements of the Treasure Act in that it is greater than 10 %.
