An incomplete gilt copper-alloy probable hooked tag likely of 16th century date.
Description: The object survives roughly rectangular shape with a flat unbroken end and an abraded incomplete(?) end. The fragment is very slightly curved in cross-section, concave on the reverse. The front is decorated with incised vertical lines terminating at a pair transverse lines near the bottom which seperates them from a pair of Xs at each bottom corner. Between the Xs is a dmaged pannel possibly relating to a now missing hook. The reverse is undecorrated anda mottled light green to light brown. The fron has some trace sof gilding and is mottled light green and dark brown
Measurements: 20.44mm long, 12.35mm wide, 1.88mm thick and 1.35g in weight.
Discussion: The exact identity of this object is uncertain but it resembles in size and style certain Early-Posted medieval hooked tags as discussed by Brian Read (2008).
