A coarse flint scraper likely dating to the late Bronze Age or Iron age c.1000BC - 0BC .
Description: The scraper was produced from an ovoid secondary flake (indicated by the substantial light brown cortex remaining on the dorsal face). The flaking has left substle conchoidal ripples on both sides of the flint and a substantial bulb of percussion on the ventral face. The retouch is formed from short scaled semi-abrupt retouch from the ventral face through the cortex on the more evenly rounded edge. The flint is a dark blue-grey with some lighter mottling.
Measurements: 35.93mm long, 43.36mm wide, 11.8mm thick and 18.42g in weight.
Discussion: The coarse yet un patinated nature of this flint tool and its production by hard hammer technology makes a relatively late, i.e latter bronze age date most likely.
