An incomplete rounded flint scraper likely of Neolithic date (c.4000-2200 BC).
Description: The scraper survives in an a irregular shape with a long rounded end and pointed recent break opposite. The flaking on the dorsal and the and conchoidal scarring (rippling) on the ventral face are very pronounced which suggest hard hammer technology. The majority of the edge has short, scaled semi-abrupt retouch struck from the dorsal face, save the long broken edge which is formed by a transverse hinge fracture. The flint is an opaque dark brown with mottled areas of lighter patches.
Measurements: 46.21mm long, 48.65mm wide, 10.61mm thick and 23.07g in weight.
Discussion: Larger rounded scrapers such as this example are a feature of the Neolithic.
