A complete copper-alloy Roman miniature object or votive model axe. The miniature object features a flat rectangular shaft with a circular hole at the top. The perimeter of the hole is incomplete. At the other end of the shaft is a trapezoid shaped axehead. The axehead is flat and tapers from blade to butt.

Votive axes were likely used as personal offerings at shrines and in graves during the late Iron Age to Romano-British period (c.100 BC - 400 AD). Green (1981: 258) also suggests that in a Romano-Celtic context, votive axes may have been good luck charms, although interpreting their precise ritual function is difficult. This example probably dates from c. AD43-250. For a comparative example with a complete shaft / handle see WILT-02CA51
