An incomplete, Medieval, cast opper-alloy, single loop oval buckle c.AD 1230-1400.
Description: The buckle is a single looped oval with a narrowed and offset bar and ornate outer edges. Two prominent knops flank seven grooves on the outer edge of the loop which act as a rest for the pin. The pin is mising, likely in antiquity. The buckle is a dark brown colour with green mottling.
Dimensions: Height 21.31mm, width 18.23mm, thickness 2.89mm and weight 2.58g.
Discussion: This is a relatively common type of buckle with numerous examples on the PAS database. by Egan & Pritchard,(1991, 77, fig 312,314) date the type to c.12-14th century
