An incomplete copper alloy brooch. A Polden Hill variant. Only the wings, head, partial bow and spring survive. The wings are cylindrical with oval end-caps. The end caps are pierced off-centre to accommodate the axis bar for the spin spring. The spring has three coils on the right and four on the left (viewed from the front) with a stub of the pin between the two groups. The chord is looped to the front and passes through a broken pierced lug at the centre of the head. The head of the bow extends horizontally from the wings before dropping down at right angles into the bow. The bow is tapering and has a rectangular cross section, it is decorated with a framing longitudinal groove along either side flanking three recesses above the break (a downward triangle, a square and an upward triangle). The recesses probably originally contained enamel.
