Fragment of a cast copper-alloy vessel leg or stand, dating to the Medieval period c. 1400 - 1600.
The leg is triangular in section and widens toward the top edge. The top edge is curved to hold the underside of a curved metal vessel. There is a slight flange edge along one side of the curved upper edge. Immediately below the curved edge there is a 'socketed' section which is thinner in thickness than the 'leg' or lower portion of the vessel stand.
Copper alloy vessels were used from the medieval period until the 19th century though cast Iron pots became increasingly prevalent from the mid 17th century.
The patina is green and mottled.
