Copper alloy buckle. Cast oval buckle with markedly bevelled edges and opposed housings for a separate steel spindle [lost]. The frame bears a series of equidistantly spaced crescents stamped around its circumference, with lightly defined cabled borders along the inner and outer edges of the frame. A zone of dots in lines between a pair of crescents may be the relict of a more extensive scheme lost to heavy wear. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1660-1720.
