Copper-alloy sheet metal mount dating from the late medieval to post-medieval period, c. 1400-1650. The mount is square with rounded corners. The centre is raised in a convex boss, hollow on the reverse. Each corner has a drilled circular rivet hole, and along each edge are two punched circular designs. The patina is dark green with some red. The mount is damaged and bent. Dimensions: weight: 2.4g, length: 24.6mm, width: 21.4mm, thickness: 0.2mm, height (edge to centre of boss): 10.5mm.

The mount was probably a book mount, used to the protect the outer surfaces of delicately bound books from damage when stored in a library.
