Incomplete Early Saxon brooch, probably a small-long, dating to the period c. AD 480 - 530. Only the central part of the head plate is now extant. This is broadly square, with old breaks on three edges. On the reverse is a scar indicating the position of the missing pierced pin lug surrounded by iron corrosion from the missing pin. The bow arches back from the head and terminates in an old break.
