A cast copper-alloy Post-Medieval s-shaped fastener dating to the 16th to 18th centuries. The fastener is S-shaped in plan and has a widened middle section that tapers towards the terminals at either end. The upper most terminal consists of the reptile's head with a large eye under a slightly protruding raised eyebrow and closed mouth. The other terminal - the snake's tail - is pointed and plain. The central section of the snake's body is decorated with lozenge shaped moulding representing scales and three equally spaced plain bands with circular-stippled edging that appear wrapped around its body. The object measures 42mm in length, 20mm in width and is a maximum of 6mm thick. The object weighs 14.34 grams.
