A worn and incomplete cast copper-alloy bow brooch of Colchester Derivative hinged type dating to the Roman period, c. 43-100 AD. The lower bow, catchplate, pin and part of the head are missing in old breaks, though otherwise the brooch is preserved intact. It has a circular-sectioned winged head containing the axis bar, part of one wing missing in old damage. At the midpoint of the head on its reverse face is a small rectangular slot where the pin would originally have hinged from, now containing only the very uppermost section of the pin. The front face of each wing is decorated with three evenly spaced raised collars, though otherwise the object is undecorated. The bow is 'D' shaped in section and curves strongly in profile, truncating abruptly about halfway down its length in an old break. Preserved in rather poor condition with an even greenish patina, it survives to a length of 25.38mm, 31.16mm in width across its wings, and 2.94mm thick at the midpoint of its bow. It weighs 5.61g.
