Roman hollow-cast, pear-shaped, round-sectioned copper alloy steelyard weight filled with lead within which the lower part of an iron suspension loop is embedded. Damaged collared opening in the cracked casing at the apex, irregular opening in base. Decoration consists of two sets of three cumferential grooves, one below the collar, the other at the widest point. Height 57mm. Diameter 44mm. Weight 440g. Similar to examples from Barnham Broom, Norfolk (HER 28370, NMS-4B1C86), Happisburgh (HER50273, NMS-819691), Reymerston, Norfolk (HER56947, NMS-503D97) and Fressingfield, Suffolk (NMS-D60A95). c.43 - c.409.
