An incomplete copper alloy Roman plate brooch dating to the 2nd century AD, missing its pin, the curl fo the catchplate and small fragments from the edge. The obverse is decorated with enamelled cells. At the centre is a circular cell with traces of possible white enamel inlaid in it. This central cell froms the centre of a red enamelled cell in the shape of an 11-pointed star or an 11 petalled flower. Between each point and the rim of the central cell is a pellet of copper alloy. Around the outside of the plate is a cell inlaid with enamel that now appears as greenish white. The brooch had a sprung pin. The spring has two turns held between two lugs. The catchplate survives as a trapezoidal projection but is missing its curl. Overall, the object measures 22.8 mm in diameter and 6.4 mm thick. The plate measures 1.7 mm thick. It weighs 3.77 g.
