A Medieval single loop, D-shaped copper alloy buckle with a lipped frame and a narrowed and offset strap bar, of Meols type 4, dating from AD 1350 - 1450. The upper side of the frame is bevelled and the pointed and projecting lip has a central pin notch. The pin and plate are missing. It is 17.5mm long, 24.3mm wide and 4.8mm thick. It weighs 3.93gm.
Similar buckles are illustrated in Griffiths, Philpott and Egan, 2007, Meols: The Archaeology of the North Wirral Coast, page 91.
