A fragment of a copper alloy Vessel of Medieval to Post-Medieval date (AD 1200-1700). The fragment is roughly triangular with all the edges broken. The front surface is decorated with engraved with a double circumferential, upper linear border. Below the borders is an engraved treble square or rectangle. The fragment is a rim sherd with a slightly everted lip. The interior surface is smooth and undecorated. The shallow curvature suggests a wide vessel.
Cast copper-alloy vessels were in common usage c 1200 - 1700 AD, becoming superseded in the 18th century by cast-iron vessels.
The metal is a dark green in colour with a predominantly smooth patina.
