Copper alloy pin head. Cast spherical pin head with a collared shank and with five further prominent and equidistantly distributed knops projecting. The body of the pin head is smooth and bears a black coating possibly arising from treatment with oil in antiquity. The form is noted at Middle Saxon Flixborough (Rogers 2009, page 72, fig. 1.29 no. 679) where it is represented by a gilded silver and glass example, not ascribed to a particular class at that site. Suggested date: Early Medieval, 650-800
