A lead artefact, probably a standing weight of post-Medieval date, AD 1500 - 1800. It is in the form of a hexagonal cone with a blunt, rounded apex and a flat base with a small, circular depression in the centre. Two opposing faces are stamped, just above the base, with small figures giving a possible date of 1608. One stamp is the opposite way up to the other. Higher up the dated faces is a further impressed design, of either a heart or a spade symbol or a leaf. This symbol is also marked on two other faces. It too appears both ways up. The remaining two faces are plain. The artefact has a dark grey patina. It is 47.1mm high and 25.9mm wide at the base. It weighs 148.62gm.

The numerals could be a date, perhaps when the weight was checked and verified, or could be an identifing mark of an inspector etc.

Inscription: 1608
