Incomplete iron and copper alloy handle from an item of cutlery, probably a knife, dating to the period c. AD 1650 - 1850. It consists of a central iron tang, now heavily corroded, sandwiched between two covex sheet copper alloy plates. The plates exhibit a scrolling foliate design in low relief. Each plate is held in place by two rivets spaced evenly along the surviving length. The tang and both plates all termnate in old breaks.
