A lead fragment, possibly from the tip of a leg of a small cast vessel, possibly a posnet or skillet, of probable post-medieval date. The object is abraded, but seems to be formed from two conjoined ribs, giving an overall D-shape section, there is no well defined foot, the object tapers to a simple blunt point. The surface texture would indicate sand casting.
Butler and Green (2003) suggest that this simple form became common in sand cast 18th and 19th century skillets.
