A Medieval copper alloy buckle with integral forked spacer, probably dating to c. AD 1300-1450. The buckle frame has a single oval loop, with a D-shaped cross section. The outer edge of the loop is expanded into a small point, with two prongs expanding from the opposite edge. Both appear to be incomplete. The bar narrows between the two prongs, where a partial wire pin surives in situ.
Dimensions: length 30.8mm; width 24.3mm; thickness 2.9mm; weight 3.81g.
cf. Egan & Pritchard (2002: 78-80) nos. 322-330, excavated in phases dating to AD 1330-1450. Ottoway & Rogers (2002: 2890) nos. 13338, 14705 & 14310, all from 15th century contexts but noted as being unusually late.
