A fragment of a cast lead armorial cloth seal. The fragment consists of a strip, cut or torn across the diameter of a circular seal, 32 mm long, 14.5 mm wide and 1.5 mm thick, weighing 6 g. The fragment is damaged at both ends, so the precise diameter of the seal is uncertain. The front face is decorated with a double-arched St Edward's crown over a Tudor rose, within a ring of pellets. The back face is strengthened by a thicker band of lead, 3 mm wide, across the diameter of the seal.

Egan (1994) illustrates a complete circular shaped cloth seal with an apparently identical design on page 179, fig.28, no.197. Large seals cast with national arms were used in the textile industry in the late 17th century, and this may be one of the "new draperie" seals used from the 1670s (Egan, 1994, 74). The St. Edward's crown on the present example indicates that it was cast after the Restoration of the English Monarchy in 1660.
