A flint core of probable late Mesolithic date c.8000-4000BC.
Description: The core is very roughly conical. The striking has left substantial conchoidal fractures, which indicates use of hard hammer technology. The removals appear to be quite small and vary in size and direction There is a concave side which may relate to an area of lower quality flint with inclusions and faults which may be why the core was abandoned. The flint is heavily mottled grey colour except for the patch of beige cortex.
