A fragment of a cast copper-alloy skillet leg and foot. The leg is oval in section where it is broken, 43.5 mm in length, 30 mm in width, 14.2 mm thick and 85.2 g in weight. The fragment has parallel sides and is slightly thickened at the foot end, which is damaged and worn. There is a slightly raised central rib on the convex outer face, ending in a possible claw, with smaller, rounded claws on either side, but most of the foot has worn away. The inner face is flat but pitted and corroded. The broken upper end is slightly flared probably from when it was sheared off of the rest of the leg. The surface is mostly covered in black organic material that has been burnt on when the leg was near the fire.

Butler and Green (2003) illustrate a skillet, manufactured by Clement Tosear of Salisbury with a similar, quite plain leg on page 122, no.122, dating from 1679-1717.
