VESSEL

It is a cast copper-alloy object, most probably one half of a handle. The remainder of the handle is S-shaped and terminates in an acorn. It is suggested here that the object was part of a handle because the inside of the ring-shaped acorn terminal is worn smooth through abrasion.

Probably part of a handle of a vessel or else, a furniture fitting, i.e. part of a drawer handle. However, the object is difficult to date since furniture fittings and part of vessels of the same shape are known from Roman and Medieval time - furthermore, using acorns as means of decoration was also not uncommon during Roman and Medieval eras.
