Broken, bent and corroded Medieval Limoges-style enamelled copper alloy buckle. Oval frame with broad angled outside edge with traces of foliate decoration reserved on an originally enamelled field, decayed traces of which remain. The narrowed, offset bar is broken and bent, pin missing. Length 16mm. Width 22.5mm. Probably manufactured at Limoges, cf. a buckle with similar frame from Aylsham, Norfolk (NMS-A1AA21) and Fingerlin no.15 (Kat.no.389) and Enamels of Limoges 1100-1350 (New York 1996) 287, no.91. Early 13th century.
