Description: The ring is formed from a thin hoop, with a convex outer face. The innermost face is engraved with a saying, motto or message in lower case does read 'God above increase our love'. There is also a makers mark of 'DF' in blackletter stamped on the inner band after the motto. The outside of the hoop is undeccorated. The hoop is now roughly ovoid due to post-depositional damage.
Measurements: 26.23mm x 14.91mm, 3.41mm wide, 1.00mm thick and 3.08g in weight
Discussion: The use of lower case lettering and its thin band suggests a c.18th century date as KENT-9CDF6B. This coupled with a maker's mark not known or listed anywhere, it is not therefore possible to assign a date prior to 1718. Thus the ring does not qualify as treasure as it cannot be comfortable dated to before 1718.Similar to record KENT-9CDF6B2018-06-13 23:01:232019-05-29 14:48:24412018-06-13God above increase our love1Certain113636PAS5B21943300131023417PUBLICGold10892Incised or engraved or chasedCompleteGoodPOST MEDIEVALPMx41047p0gjgrs6sgxPOST MEDIEVALPMx41047p0gjgrs6sgxMetal detectorCircaCirca90499918210186281859341421TQ5865TQ5865TQ56NE51.362096380.268073141011016964misc501a.jpg46099The Portable Antiquities Scheme4images/stuff8472/South EastCharacter undeterminedGrassland, HeathlandEuropean RegionCountyKentDistrictSevenoaksCivil Parish51.37630.281372FawkhamReturned to finder96691
