Copper alloy brooch fragment. A small cast Colchester derivative brooch fragment, possibly Mackreth type CD RH 1.c. Short semi-circular concave wings retain traces of fixative, and are met by a keeled D-section bow which tapers towards the foot [lost]; the bow is lightly hollowed behind. Abraded. This identification presumes the loss of a rearward facing hook from the crest of the bow. If sustained, it would suggest a connection with a craftsman or other member of the Iceni tribe of East Anglia. Suggested date: Early Roman, 45-61.
