Probable Medieval copper alloy scale pan, diameter: 110mm, height 40mm, weight: 100.48 g
The object is semi-circular in form and circuar in cross section, has an incised line on its outer surface, 6 to 7 mm from the upper edge. Between this and the edge there are four circular holes at cardinal points, for suspension. The irregular edge and surface suggest that it has been beaten from a sheet. It has a deliberate indentation in the centre of its base to allow the object to stand if needed. The object appears to be part of a balance scale and its heavily pitted and corroded green patina suggests a medieval date.
