An incomplete copper alloy unidentified, possible mount, dating from the late Medieval to Post Medieval period, probably dating from c. AD 1400 - c. AD 1600.
The object is broadly triangular in plan and is slightly D shaped in section. It has an broadly oval shaped solid knop protruding from the top of the triangle with a broken suspension loop at each of the other corners, the suspension loops appear to have a circular perforation through the centre. There is a broadly rectangular border, forming the edge of the triangle, this has been decorated with a central straight groove. Inside the border are three incised circles (one at the top, two below), inside each circle are trefoil perforations with bevelled inside edges. Where the incised circles join are three small circular perforations, there is one either side of the object about half way down and one at the base in the centre. The reverse is flat.
The object measures 19.8 mm in length and is 16.8 mm wide at the base and 8.9 mm wide at the top of the triangle. It has a thickness of 1.5 g.
The object is a mid to light green in colour with an even surface patina. Abrasion caused by movement whilst within the plough soil may have resulted in the loss of some of the original surface detail. A direct comparison for this object could not be found at the time of recording. Suggested dates are tentative.
