Copper alloy Key. Cast Barrel tap Key with an oval bow with two apertures, a round section stem and a cylindrical hollow-ended bit with a square aperture. The bow is narrower than the stem and the bit wider than both. The bow is decorative with a design suggesting three continuous loops, two forming the lobes of bow and the third smaller loop not perforated and joining the bow to the stem. There are small knops to the extremity of each of the bow loops, and a larger knop at the top of the bow where the two loops come together at the centre. The surface is brown with a green patina around the bit, and a slight reddish patina on part of the bow. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1800-1900. Length: 47mm, Width (at bow): 27mm, Thickness (at bit): 9mm, Weight: 18.1gms.
